Summer Teen Employment

Life Skills' Employment Services offers special summer employment programs just for teens. Specifically, these programs are available to teens with developmental disabilities, ages 16-20, who reside in St. Louis or St. Charles Counties and are returning to high school in the fall.

St. Charles County - Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP)

The Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP) is a collaborative project with St. Louis ARC, Alternative Opportunities, Community Living Inc., Center for Specialized Services, BCI, Mers/Goodwill and Life Skills. This program provides a six-week summer employment opportunity for up to 70 teens with developmental disabilities who reside in St. Charles County and who are returning to school in the fall. Students must be eligible for services by the St. Charles Regional Office prior to the start of the program. Additionally, the application process can take several months, so please apply as soon as possible.

STEP provides participants and their families with first-hand experience in working with supported employment agencies and an opportunity to see the possibilities of what competitive employment might look like for them in the future. The program is designed to expose participants to the difference between school and work, emphasizing an important step toward the transition from high school to competitive employment.
